Qualifying Life Events

Certain life events, changes in your job status, and changes in the job status of your dependents, may be considered qualifying life events, which may enable limited changes in your benefit selections within a restricted period of time. If you are expecting or experiencing a qualifying life event, contact Human Resources to discuss the necessary process, required forms, and deadlines.

Qualifying Event Rules:

• Changes to benefit selections must be consistent with the qualifying life event.
• In order to be able to process any changes to benefit selections, Human Resources must receive the appropriate completed form and associated documentation within 31 days of the date of the qualifying event.
• In most cases, changes are effective the first day of the month following the qualifying life event.
